Need some sea level rise propaganda?

Use new mapping graphics and dial your sea level rise scare.  This one picked 8 feet, why not 9, 10, 12 or higher?  From SFist, Mapping The Projected 8 Foot Sea Level Rise In San Francisco

Why 8 feet?  They had a prediction, and it “might just scare developers straight, as it comes with this spooky map of future San Francisco and points out 27 proposals for major construction projects that might well be flooded in decades due to climate change.”

No mention of when, but I don’t think I’ll watch the news closely for the 8′ sea level rise.

Co-director of the West Oakland Environmental Indicators Project Brian Beveridge told the Public Press, “It’s going to fall down along lines of class and political power—who will be protected and who will be thrown to the dogs.”

Just in case you need some environmental justice mixed with the propaganda.

  1. I can only hope that all the sea water rushes to Al Gore’s seaside mansion, and floods it, in retaliation! Government induced climaphobia is not a pretty thing. Hold onto your wallets, people. It’s about MONEY!!

  2. 1957chev
and me the river in downtown Nashville flood the Belle Meade mansion of Gore as well, (the site of the largest use of electricity in the nation) sparing all properties in the vicinity.

  4. Sea-Level in the Gulf of Maine was 3mm higher than today in 2005. It had a few ups and downs in the 9 year interval, but essentially it hasn’t changed.

Going back to 1947, Sea-Level in the Gulf of Maine was identical to today’s. Yes, identical!!! There were a few ups and downs in the 68 year interval, but essentially it hasn’t changed.

When is the sea slated to rise??? As it hasn’t figured out a way to do so in the last seven decades, what (other than the National Climate Assessment) makes anyone think it is suddenly going to rise 4 to six feet by century’s end???

Measured by the Portland Maine Tide Gauge – no adjustments, corrections, GIA factors or anything equally stupid, and no tectonic influences either.

  5. BTW, remove the statistically invalid disconnects [that some try to include] in the discontinued Seavey’s Island (Portsmouth NH) Tide Gauge, and the essentially flat Gulf of Maine Sea-Level is very neatly correlated !

  6. A sea-level excursion of a dozen feet or so would rinse off the ugly bathtub ring of development from our coasts.
