An Independence Day tribute to James Otis–opponent of tyranny

Otis opposed writs of assistance in colonial days, used by the British to intimidate the populace.

Today there are many forms of tyranny that government uses to control citizens and impose its power.

The United States were formed as a nation on the fundamentals of limited government by consent of the governed, property rights, and most important–individual liberty and freedom to act.

The devolution of this republic to a statist tyranny is apparent.

Otis articulated the importance of a citizen’s liberty and security in property.
