Watching Secretariat one couldn’t help but know that the size and strength advantage was remarkable–at autopsy his heart and lungs were big–he was big. Big Red, and there was a great movie about his run for the Triple Crown. Secratariat’s owner was in the stands yesterday.
I still can’t help getting choked up about the scene of washing Big Red to the sound of the Edwin Hawkins Singers.
Yesterday was a great day for horses and horse racing–and a great day for America. American Pharoah’s owner, Mr. Zayat, and family are emigrant and patriotic Americans. He has said he owes his success to the opportunities in America.
American Pharoah may not be big, but he has heart amd Lord knows the Belmont will break a lesser heart at a mile and half.
