Stan writes aas though this constitutes some sort of problem rather than indicating we are lifting more people’s standards of living and better protecting them from nature’s inhospitable climate. What it really means is we have achieved partial success but need to increase availability and reliability of affordable power (more coal and natgas) and raise more people out of poverty.

The U.S. has long used more energy for air conditioning than all other nations combined. But as demand increases in the world’s warmer regions, global energy consumption for air conditioning is expected to continue to rise dramatically and could have a major impact on climate change.
